Backpack - San Gorgonio (was Dobb's Cabin) August 15 & 16

Posted by MJSven on Aug 4 2020 - 7:17pm

**FIRE UPDATE**  The San Gorgonio Wilderness has been closed to all use. An Emergency Forest Closure Order is in effect as of August 2, 2020. The order prohibits all entry into the San Gorgonio Wilderness and some adjacent areas. This order also includes the Pacific Crest Hiking Trail between the Forest Boundary and Forest Road 1N01. Additionally, all Forest Service recreation areas in the Forest Falls area are closed.  I will look for an alternative backpack location.  Have a destination you would like to go to – send me an email!

YIS, Mike Swenson

Hello Troop93 Hikers!  August 15th and 16th we will be backpacking to the summit of San Gorgonio.  This is the highest peak in Southern California and a rite of passage for serious hikers in our area.  San Gorgonio Mountain is also one of the most topographically prominent peaks in the United States, ranked 7th amongst peaks in the contiguous states.
