Backpack - San Gorgonio (was Dobb's Cabin) August 15 & 16

Posted by MJSven on Aug 4 2020 - 7:17pm

**FIRE UPDATE**  The San Gorgonio Wilderness has been closed to all use. An Emergency Forest Closure Order is in effect as of August 2, 2020. The order prohibits all entry into the San Gorgonio Wilderness and some adjacent areas. This order also includes the Pacific Crest Hiking Trail between the Forest Boundary and Forest Road 1N01. Additionally, all Forest Service recreation areas in the Forest Falls area are closed.  I will look for an alternative backpack location.  Have a destination you would like to go to – send me an email!

YIS, Mike Swenson

Hello Troop93 Hikers!  August 15th and 16th we will be backpacking to the summit of San Gorgonio.  This is the highest peak in Southern California and a rite of passage for serious hikers in our area.  San Gorgonio Mountain is also one of the most topographically prominent peaks in the United States, ranked 7th amongst peaks in the contiguous states.

Dobbs Cabin Backpack - August 15 & 16

Posted by MJSven on Jul 19 2020 - 11:52am

Hello Troop93!  We added an Intermediate/High adventure backpack to the calendar the weekend of August 15th & 16th.  With new rules in place currently with scouting there is no carpooling to/from outing and no tent sharing.  Parents need to drop off and pick up their scout for this event.  Adults can sign-up for the outing but priority is given to Scouts.  We are limited to 12 on this outing and I suggest you contact the outing leader via email if you would like to participate.

Dobb's cabin is an intermediate level backpack totaling 12 miles with mild to moderate elevation gain. Participants will also earn the San Bernardino Trails award and/or the Mill Creek rocker patch for their brag rag.

If you are an adult leader with the troop and would like to be the co-leader on this outing let me know!  YIS, Mike Swenson

Troop 93 Re-Opening Plan & Member Survey

Posted by MJSven on Jul 19 2020 - 11:51am

Troop93 Leadership is working to reopen weekly meetings and offering outdoor activities again.  Please take a moment to read our reopening plan and guidelines attachment sent to the City of Fullerton with the request to allow the use of the Kiwanis Youth Park for troop meetings.  As of today, we have not received a response from the city.

We have prepared a simple survey to get an idea of our group’s readiness to begin in-person activities.
