OCBSA Council update

Posted by MJSven on Jun 2 2020 - 11:58am

Hello Troop93: Below is a link with the latest update from Orange County Council regarding program delivery.  We may be able to begin in-person meetings after June 8 if the Kiwanis (our Chartered Organization) and the City of Fullerton approve access to the Scout Hut.  I am waiting for that information and will let everyone know as soon as possible.  One item to note is that Lost Valley is closed until July 15.  Since we were scheduled to go there July 12-18, summer camp is now cancelled for 2020.  Once the Troop receives the refund from Council, which could take several weeks, we will refund all previous camp payments.  The Troop leadership will be working on a merit badge based "in-house summer camp".  Details will be sent once everything is worked out.

Virtual Troop Meeting May 5th - 7pm

Posted by MJSven on May 2 2020 - 3:07pm

Troop93 Families,  Great news, we are having our first virtual troop meeting this Tuesday evening at 7pm. The first year’s patrol will also join at 7pm; no 6:30 start necessary.

When you join the site, you will be placed in a waiting room, and the meeting hosts will let you in. Please make sure that your virtual backgrounds are disabled (if you have any) and when you sign in, please make sure to have your Patrol name or abbreviation listed along with your name. This will help sort everyone out when it comes time for patrol corners.

Please appear in your class A uniforms. This is an official troop meeting, and we need to look our best.

This week, we will be doing a fun social distancing activity. Please download this form:

Important Troop information

Posted by MJSven on May 2 2020 - 6:20am
Hello Troop93 families:This email is a bit long so please bear with me and make sure your sons receive this information.
As some of you know, Mr. Goyer's business has been extremely busy since the shelter in place order came down.  As you might expect, this has cut into his available time for Scouting.  The third point of the Scout Law is “A Scout is Helpful” and it’s become clear to the adult leadership that we need to provide some help to keep Troop 93 at the top of its game.  Please understand, Mr. Goyer has not stepped down as Scoutmaster and there are no intentions to replace him.  He's just been extremely busy.  In an effort to give him some relief from Troop business until things settle down, your Troop adult leadership has put together a plan to attempt to keep the boys interested in Scouting.
Mr. Thacker and Mr. Kennedy will take the lead on Program.  They are putting together a virtual and fun Tuesday night program beginning on May 5th at 7:00PM.  Watch for the Zoom invite!  Parents are invited to watch but please don't get involved (just yet).  Mr. Thacker and Mr. Kennedy will be following up with the Scout leadership to hold a Patrol Leaders’ Council meeting shortly, so the Scouts can get back to running their troop meetings.
